Sharing program stories and results
"I think that you're the best listener I've ever known... you're able to condense and get down to the meat of what I'm trying to say. It was so great working with you."

RAISE: Create Your Next Success
More from Deb:
When we first started with [the RAISE program], I just had no confidence at all. I was still really hurting from the way that my last job ended and feeling very sorry for myself -- and also feeling like I really am too old to do anything. No focus. Couldn't figure out where I wanted to go or if anybody was going to let me go there.

So that's where I started out. And going through [the program], one of the things that was so great for me was when I was talking about all the kids stuff that I wanted to do -- starting the festival and doing a book giveaway -- that made my heart really flutter, and it'd been a long time since I had something that made my heart flutter.
If you were to put how you feel on a scale of 1 to 10, where did you start and where are you a month after the program?
I would say I was probably about a two when I started. Now I kind of feel like an eight. It's very different. It's not a step by step plan, but I think I've got a plan!
What was your favorite part of the RAISE program?
What I really liked was hearing other people's stories.

I did like the process too. I thought that was really good. And I have to say when I first saw it I was like, "Okay, I could write this down. But what's that going to mean?" But it turned out to be great. It really made me think and really dig through my own fences and figure out what it really was down there that I want to feel like.
Was it worth the investment of time and money?
Absolutely. The time spent wasn't that much for what I got out of it because I do really feel like I moved from total helplessness (almost) to "I got this."

The time was was great. If I was doing it by myself - if I could have done it by myself - it would have taken a lot longer. And I don't think I could have [done it by myself].
How would you describe the program and its benefits?
You're not going to be psychoanalyzed. It's not that kind of thing. It's just to help you figure out where you want to be and come up with ways for you to get there.

It really is using what you know about yourself; like you said before, it's like helping somebody get out of their own way. That's exactly what it is. Find out what it is that makes your heart sing.

And that's hard to do by yourself. That's the greatest benefit of [RAISE]: you can get down to the thing that really matters.
